<div style="text-align: center;">
Phew, what an episode. We finally found out, along with Ben & Ethan, what's "really" going on in <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2618986/" target="_blank">Wayward Pines</a>. I admit I started watching the show solely because I'm a huge fan of <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2013/02/random-review-m-night-shyamalan.html" target="_blank">M. Night Shyamalan</a>, but Wayward Pines has given me plenty of other reasons to like it since episode one, & especially after its most recent episode "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3493984/?ref_=tt_eps_cu_n" target="_blank">The Truth</a>" - The things revealed in this episode make this show a must-see for any fellow scifi lovers out there. If you have never watched the show, I recommend checking it out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><span style="color: red;"><b>Caution</b><b>:</b></span></u><br />
HUGE spoilers for Wayward Pines ahead.<br />
If you haven't seen the show,<br />
please stop reading here.<br />
You have hereby been warned. ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm also a huge fan of the CW show "<a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2015/03/review-100.html" target="_blank">The 100</a>" so I immediately noticed some similarities to that show in this episode. It's similar enough to excite me, but not so similar that it's ripping that show off in any way. So, from where I sit (on the porch in the dark with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLZDLuxJcNc" target="_blank">My Dying Bride</a> blaring from my <a href="http://ericjude.com/" target="_blank">hubby</a>'s laptop), that's a good thing. Side note, I also recommend checking out "The 100" if you haven't. Another great post-apocalyptic show that in my opinion is highly underrated.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. As soon as Ben's teacher revealed the time travel bit, I thought, "Of course! Re-population." So I tweeted it out, & no one seemed to get it. Lo & behold, about 10 minutes later, that is what they revealed they are doing. Attempting to repopulate the future Earth with "normal" human beings. (Which could certainly explain the bedroom eyes Ben's new girlfriend has been giving him, LOL). Some things were predictable, such as Pilcher's reveal, but a lot of the reveals were pretty cool. My favorite was definitely the date on the quarter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The creatures that humans have "evolved" into, called abbies, seem a little zombie-ish, giving the show even more of an apocalyptic feel & promising some exciting action scenes in the future. & these things aren't like the boring zombies from "<a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-walking-dead-and-bethyl-review-and.html" target="_blank">The Walking Dead</a>" but more like the speedy rage-infected zombies from "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289043/" target="_blank">28 Days (& Weeks) Later</a>" (which is DEFINITELY awesome).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But don't forget, even though we now know "the truth" the people of Wayward Pines are still pretty shady. (Need I remind you of the reckoning ceremonies? Come on). So we're more than likely not getting the WHOLE truth (or maybe not even any truth, although I'm pretty sure the abbies do actually exist & that it's probably pretty hard to fake the date on a quarter). ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This episode was, in my opinion, the best yet. Not just because of the writing & acting but because of that amazing sequence where we were pulled back & forth between Ben's "orientation" & his parent's simultaneous revelations. As a <a href="http://youtube.com/kyliekerosene" target="_blank">video editor</a> myself, I really appreciate when the editing is done so brilliantly, so kudos to the editors on that. It really gave the episode even more intensity.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
While this episode may have been the best yet, there were a couple of downsides. First, there is very little ethnic representation in Ben's group, or in the town for that matter. & second, the whole episode was kind of one big info dump, & while I loved it, I also wonder if they should have saved at least some of this mind bending info for the season finale. I'm a little worried that the show might not be able to top this episode. They are going to have to pull out something even bigger for the season finale if the show's going to survive the harsh business that is television. But rumor has it that this is just the beginning of the crazy, so hopefully we'll see more epic episodes like this one in the future.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I listened to the audio book for this one, and was asked to write a review of it, so for this book review I'm splitting it into 2 parts - first the book review, & then the audio book review. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b><br /></b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>Dying To Forget - the book by Trish Dawson:</b></u><br />
<br />
I wasn't sure about dying to forget at first, but a few pages in I was
crying. CRYING. Over a book. Because I relate to Piper. I have been
there. Drugged & raped. & a cutter. & even suicidal. Thankfully that's all in the past now (I've healed a lot since then
& even founded a support group called <a href="http://facebook.com/avoiceforheather" target="_blank">RISE</a> (Rape Incest &
Suicide Education) but nonetheless, after I got passed the first couple
of pages (during which I wrongly assumed it was some kind of erotica - it isn't), I
grew increasingly connected to & invested in Piper's journey, page
after page. The first person point of view & the present tense
style, along with Piper's adorable nicknames for people, really help the
reader connect with the characters & events in the book. Some of
the descriptions were a bit lengthy for me, but other than that, I loved
it. Definitely recommended for teens & for anyone who has been
through any kind of abuse or trauma. You will cry, you will laugh, & you will
find healing in its pages. This is why all books should be written - to
uplift, encourage, & empower people. Thank you to Trish Dawson for
writing a book that tackles issues needing more light shed on them,
while being entertaining & fun at the same time.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>Dying To Forget - audio book read by Kimberly Woods:</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
This was the first time I'd tried listening to an audio book. As a
writer myself, as well as a plethora of other things, I rarely find the
time to read, so I thought I could listen instead, while working on
novel illustrations. Turns out, I was right. Still took forever to get
through it, but I got through it much quicker than I would have been
able to by actually reading. Kimberly Woods speaks with a clear voice,
enunciating every word; & with a soft & calming tone, making it a
great read for right before bed (although that's not when I listened to
it, but if I could I would). I think her voice embodied the character
of Piper well, & she did a good job of keeping up with the humor in
the novel, causing me to giggle on multiple occasions. There were a few
times when I wished I could speed it up a little because it went a bit
too slow for me personally, but nonetheless, I could tell she really
immersed herself in the story, which in turn made me feel more immersed
in the story too. I love the fact that a busy person like myself can
listen while doing other things, so I will definitely be trying more
audio books in the future.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Warning - This post contains spoilers. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I would love to write a full review of <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/" target="_blank">Game Of Thrones</a>, as I haven't yet
& while this post may seem to state otherwise, I do love the show.
It's filled to the brim with believable acting, beautiful
cinematography, & of course, gripping story lines. But sadly, one of those story lines has taken a sharp left
turn. The milk of its promise has soured, & now people like myself
& fellow rape survivors are rushing to get the spoiled milk out of
the house before it stinks the whole place up. So I guess that's why I'm blogging
about it. You see, I was kept awake until very late last night by the
final scene of "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3866842/" target="_blank">Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken</a>" & then I was woken up early this
morning by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3849842/?ref_=tt_cl_t5" target="_blank">Sansa Stark</a>'s pain filled sobbing ringing in my head again.
So right now I'm just TIRED. Not just physically. I'm tired of being so
affected by rape scenes; I'm tired of bad writing on shows like this one
& <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520211/" target="_blank">The Walking Dead</a> (which has a bad habit of <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-walking-dead-and-bethyl-review-and.html" target="_blank">killing its most intriguing characters off</a>
before their story ever reaches its peak); & I'm tired of <a href="http://hbo.com/" target="_blank">HBO</a> adding rape
scenes to the show that (so I'm told) weren't even in the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/George-Martins-Thrones-5-Book-Boxed/dp/0345535529" target="_blank">books</a>.<br />
<br />
From what I remember, it was actually a good episode up until the final
scene. I remember <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3586035/?ref_=tt_cl_t6" target="_blank">Arya</a> discovering more about the place she was in &
who she was (& was not) ready to become; I remember some great
lines from <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0227759/?ref_=tt_cl_t1" target="_blank">Tyrion</a> (as usual), & I remember <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1754059/?ref_=tt_cl_t29" target="_blank">Margaery</a> screaming for her child
King as they dragged her brother & her away (after her brother's
lover basically pulled a <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1402546/?ref_=tt_cl_t30" target="_blank">Shae</a>). But it took a while to remember all of
that because the final scene ripped it away from me (& others too,
from what I'm seeing on social media).<br />
<br />
Honestly, I never really liked Sansa. She's always been a whiny brat
in my eyes (as well as in many others), but that was slowly beginning to
change as recent events & character development made me curious to
see her morph into a strong, dark, vengeful woman. But then the show
shocked us with a huge change of character on her part, which made us
all feel bad for her, but also turned her back into the whiny brat that
we were first introduced to. Don't get me wrong, I know more than most
that rape is a traumatizing event, especially for a virgin, but somehow I
at least expected her to hold back her tears & muffle her cries as a
show of strength. But heartbreakingly, that was not the case.<br />
<br />
Of course, this wasn't the first rape scene in the show - <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3592338/?ref_=tt_cl_t4" target="_blank">Danaerys</a> was
raped by the man that ended up becoming her "sun & stars" (& in
that case it actually ended up being good character development), &
<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0372176/?ref_=tt_cl_t2" target="_blank">Cersei</a> was raped by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0182666/?ref_=tt_cl_t8" target="_blank">Jaime</a> after their son died (which was absolutely
unnecessary, not to mention, not in the books, & made me lose all
the respect I had recently gained for Jaime's character) - but somehow
this is the most disturbing rape scene yet. One obvious reason for that
is that we as an audience have grown up with Sansa, & have watched
her be passed from one man to the next while somehow managing to keep
her virginity intact. In fact, she held onto her virginity for so long
that it became a sort of "sword in the stone" - many tried to pull the
sword out, but none were deemed worthy. But then <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3701064/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t45" target="_blank">Ramsay</a> comes along with a
stick of dynamite & blows the stone to pieces. Gee, how creative.<br />
<br />
Really, no one is surprised that Ramsay would do such a hideous thing.
He isn't exactly King Arthur. But I personally held onto hope until the
moment she started sobbing. Hope that <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654295/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t10" target="_blank">Theon</a> (who was forced to watch)
would finally man up & save her, or that Sansa would woman up &
save herself, but unfortunately they gave us neither option, & while
the show is known for its harsh awakenings, this one may have been too
harsh. I think they missed a great opportunity for character development
with this scene, & it worries me that they are now at the point where they have to depart from the books, & while I'm sure they probably discuss major plot points with the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/George-R.R.-Martin/e/B000APIGH4/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1" target="_blank">author</a> first, I'm worried about them changing the 'game' too much. But I for one will continue to watch, simply because I'm too invested in Dany & Tyrion & Arya to stop. And who knows, maybe Sansa's story line will end up being somewhat
like Dany's story line & we will see an unbowed, unbent, & unbroken Sansa from here on
out.<br />
<br />
In fact... I <i>know </i>we will.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's hard to believe it's been a year since my all time favorite show
ended. & I don't say "all time favorite" lightly. I don't have one
favorite song or band (although <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirty_Seconds_to_Mars" target="_blank">30 Seconds To Mars</a> & <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M83_%28band%29" target="_blank">M83</a> are up
there), or one favorite movie (although <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2014/01/movie-review-oblivion.html" target="_blank">Oblivion</a> & <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448011/" target="_blank">Knowing</a> are up
there). I love shows like <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2015/03/review-100.html" target="_blank">The 100</a> (based on books by <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6922454.Kass_Morgan" target="_blank">Kass Morgan</a>) &
the tragically cancelled <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2014/04/star-crossed-review-and-video.html" target="_blank">Star-Crossed</a>, due to their Scifi themes, but
<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1595680/" target="_blank">Being Human</a> is the only show in the history of television that I can
truly say is my favorite.<br />
<br />
Being Human started as a European show, which I saw a couple episodes of
on <a href="http://www.bbc.com/" target="_blank">BBC</a>, but just couldn't get into it after seeing the U.S. version on
the <a href="http://syfy.com/" target="_blank">Syfy</a> channel. No offense to the first Being human, but I think the
U.S. version was drastically improved. I might be biased though. It's
one of the very few shows where I can honestly say I adored the entire
cast, especially the main characters.<br />
<br />
In the beginning, Aidan (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1022429/?ref_=tt_ov_st" target="_blank">Sam Witwer</a>) & Josh (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0403134/?ref_=tt_ov_st" target="_blank">Sam Huntington</a>) move
in together as roommates. One small problem though - one is a vampire
& the other a werewolf. They soon discover that their new-found abode
is haunted by a ghost named Sally (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1012010/?ref_=tt_ov_st" target="_blank">Meaghan Rath</a>), & since their
supernatural state allows them to see her, they quickly become friends
with her quirky, lovable spirit. Then, eventually, Josh falls in love
with a coworker named Nora (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1982266/" target="_blank">Kristen Hager</a>), & accidentally turns her into a
werewolf. Oh & he also impregnates her with his possibly monstrous
child. Ruh-roh D:<br />
<br />
The setup of a vampire, werewolf & ghost living under the same roof
makes for tons of action & drama, but that's not really why I loved
the show. I loved it because one minute the characters could be sitting
at the kitchen table joking & laughing (& making me laugh quite a
bit too), & the next minute they could be on the edge of life &
death, screaming & crying & clawing to save each other. This
contrast of comedy & drama is, I think, what made it so great. I've
recently discovered a genre of music that I feel is my musical soul mate,
called doom metal (bands like <a href="http://www.mydyingbride.net/" target="_blank">My Dying Bride</a> & <a href="http://www.forestofshadows.com/" target="_blank">Forest of Shadows</a>
& our friend's band <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Agonalky" target="_blank">Agonal</a>, & soon <a href="http://youtube.com/necrotanic" target="_blank">our own music</a> too). Since
then, I've referred to Being Human as the Doom Metal of TV. Because it
does the same thing - makes you feel safe & warm, & then when
you least expect it, rips it all away in a flurry of sorrow &
despair. I loved being on that emotional roller coaster. Maybe I'm just
crazy, but that's why it's my all time favorite show.<br />
<br />
When it was announced that Being Human was ending a year ago, with only a
couple weeks to adjust to the shocking news, many people were angry. I
was too, at first, but then I found out why it was ending & I felt
a little bit better about it. & the Series Finale was everything I
could have hoped for, bringing all the story lines to a beautifully
happy ending. Unlike with the aforementioned Star-Crossed, Being Human
got the ending the characters & fans deserved, & I will always
be grateful for that. :)<br />
<br />
I seriously can't believe it's taken me a year to make my tribute video
for Being Human. First, I had a plethora of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB22aXaFsojsHKtvagqu45-Y_yMEC3Ksr" target="_blank">songs to choose from</a>,
finally deciding on my remix of "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GbZbLJExpA" target="_blank">Breath</a>" by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breaking_Benjamin" target="_blank">Breaking Benjamin</a>, since it
allowed me to showcase both the action & romance on the show. Some
of the lyrics really went with certain things that happened too. Then I
had some technical difficulties (way too many clips for poor little <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Movie_Maker" target="_blank">windows movie maker</a> to handle), & then my <a href="http://kyliejude.com/" target="_blank">novels & other projects</a> got in the way, but finally I decided to finish it, coincidentally, exactly one
month before the one year anniversary of the show's ending.<br />
<br />
Speaking of the ending, I had to squeeze in another song at the end of
the video - my remix of "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myeuxo_ddlc" target="_blank">I Won't Let You Go</a>" by <a href="http://www.snowpatrol.com/" target="_blank">Snow Patrol</a>. You may
have heard this song on the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1840309/" target="_blank">Divergent</a> soundtrack. It was in the credits
of that movie, but I felt like it should have played when the credits
first started rolling (it didn't - one of many musical issues I had with
that movie), so for this video it is the credit song, & I really
feel like it's perfect for what's happening at the end. Here are the
lyrics of the part I used:<br />
<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Never gonna be easy, was it?</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>You didn't think it'd be so much fun.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>The smile comes despite the danger.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Get some.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I know I'm where I belong.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Deep down inside, I've known all along.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I won't let you go,</i><br />
<i> so don't leave go of me.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I wanted something more, </i><br />
<i>I wanted this right here.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>This is what you really want.</i><br />
<br />
<i>This is what you asked for.</i><br />
<br />
<br />
Any of Being Human's main characters could have written these lyrics
about their loved ones in the show, & while most of the video is
filled with action & dread (& a LOT of screaming, LOL), I wanted
to end it on a happy note. Because I think I can speak for all fans of
the show when I say these lyrics also sum up how we feel after that
ending. This is what we really want. This is what we asked for.<br />
<br />
I for one couldn't have asked for a more perfect show or a more perfect
ending. I will never let Being Human go (pun intended). I could watch it over
& over for the rest of my life & never get sick of it. & I
just might do that, once I finally own it on DVD. ;)<br />
<br />
Okay, enough gushing. Video time!<br />
<br />
<b>Warning</b>: This video is basically the
entire series squeezed into 4 minutes (thanks to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpCwU2hWUiA" target="_blank">this amazing & hilarious recap</a> for some of the footage). Some big spoilers ahead. But
chances are if you're reading this you've seen the show anyway, so sit
back, relax, turn the volume up & enjoy the feels!</div>

<b>P.S. (Spoiler)</b><br />
I also just found out while researching for this blog that they intended all along for Sally & Aidan to have the same door (to the afterlife) which made this long time Saidan shipper very happy. They were soul mates. It doesn't get better than that. :)<br />
<br />
I leave you with an article (<a href="http://www.thewrap.com/syfy-being-human-series-finale-sam-witwer/" target="_blank">interview with Sam Witwer AKA Aidan</a>) discussing the door thing and much more, including a farewell interview video. This amazing show and its truly lovable characters will be missed, but I for one have never been so satisfied or fulfilled after a series. Thanks for the memories. <br />

<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Like lots of people, I first heard Delta Rae on the a capella TV show <a href="http://www.nbc.com/the-sing-off" target="_blank">The Sing-Off</a>. But it wasn't until I heard their first single "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bimam2j2gEg" target="_blank">Bottom Of The River</a>" that I truly became a fan. The song and video were so intense and dramatic and well done that I couldn't wait to hear more like it. But I <i>had </i>to wait, since we have bad internet connection where we live. Honestly it's a miracle I'm even able to blog as much as I do (which isn't much, so that's saying something).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally, (and coincidentally on the same weekend that their <a href="http://www.axs.tv/headliner-club/delta-rae/" target="_blank">concert on AXS</a> premiered), I was able to hear some of their other songs <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA8duz9FZsxeqwEvJEF93WA" target="_blank">online</a>, and although I loved their a capella stuff, I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of their songs involved beautiful, intricate, and unique instrumentation as well. And when I watched their AXS concert on TV shortly after, I was even more thrilled to see that they actually played their own instruments (a feat that is sadly not seen enough anymore), and that they had such great energy onstage too. I would have loved to have been there live. If you get a chance to see them on <a href="http://www.deltarae.com/tour/upcoming" target="_blank">tour</a>, I recommend it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I fell in love with a bunch of their music, especially the songs that reminded me of my own <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2014/06/lucky-7-blog-hop.html" target="_blank">novels</a> as well as my <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/byseries/14491" target="_blank">husband's</a>, and when I heard their song "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNeb3gC7c-A" target="_blank">I Will Never Die</a>" (which reminds me of BOTH our novels), it quickly became my new favorite. And I quickly noticed that the vibe and lyrics both seemed to go well with "Bottom Of The River" so I decided to try mixing the two songs together. Turns out, they go together perfectly. I feel like this mash-up takes all the intensity of both songs and just amplifies it. Hopefully you will like it too. And I really hope I got the right lyrics. So many sites butcher lyrics these days, so fingers crossed ;) Anyway, let me know what you think! And be sure to check out their EP "<a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/chasing-twisters-ep/id741197360?wmgref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.deltarae.com%2F" target="_blank">Chasing Twisters</a>" as well as their debut album "<a href="https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=532969027&wmgref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.deltarae.com%2F" target="_blank">Carry The Fire</a>". Some truly amazing music on both. For tour dates and much more, visit their website <a href="http://deltarae.com/" target="_blank">HERE</a>, and check out the killer teaser for yet another new album from the phenomenal band (coming in April 2015) <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoXh-iCi4TE" target="_blank">HERE</a>.<br />

<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Delta Rae is a force to be reckoned with. Their electrifying energy, their powerful voices and musical talent, and their creativity in using some really unique and awesome instruments, all make these kids stand out as nothing like we've ever seen or heard before, and likely never will again. Some say the band's vivacious lead singer <a href="https://twitter.com/brittanyhellyes" target="_blank">Brittany</a> is a witch. Whether that's true or not, listening to their music definitely does make you feel like you're under a spell, and the more you listen, the more you want. And there's no denying the themes of witchcraft in some of their songs, including the two I mixed together (so of course it's no wonder they remind me of my husband's <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/byseries/14491" target="_blank">books</a>). But whether witchcraft is involved or not, I'm perfectly happy to be under their spell. :)<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I was going to wait until I had a music video to share, but I decided to go ahead and post a blog on <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2661044/" target="_blank">The 100</a>, after that awesome season finale. Mostly because I had too many words in me to post on social media. Regulars might be shocked at how short this one is compared to my typical blogs, but I just wanted to get some of my thoughts out, so I jotted them down here. Enjoy! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I saw the very first episode of The 100, I think I probably cried the whole
time. Not because it was sad but because it was so beautiful. It
was everything I had ever wanted in a series. But as much as I loved the
show then, I love it even more now. How is that even possible? Especially now that the characters have left the ark (AKA spaceship) and taken up residence on post-apocalyptic Earth. As a science fiction
writer and fan, one would expect the lack of space in season 2 to
deter me, but surprisingly, it didn't. While the show lost some of its
science fiction elements in season 2, it also gained the grounders (a
badass group of warriors) and some cool dynamics between them and
the sky people (the ones who came from space). It also lost a character I
never liked, which is always a plus. But I think the main reason season
2 was so great was the fact that we got to see the evolution of some of
the characters into true warriors. You have to be tough to survive in
the world of The 100, after all. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of
the things I love most about the show is the character arcs. After the
season 2 finale, we know Clarke is going to be even more badass next
season, having retreated into the wilderness to become some kind of
nomad loner. Not to mention poor Jasper, with the loss he suffered in
this episode no doubt having lasting ramifications. And I can't
believe the difference between Octavia in season 1 and Octavia in
season 2. Totally different people. What it all boils down to? War
changes people. And it's doing just that on the show. One of the
recurring themes, as we heard again tonight from Clarke's mom, is that
there are no good guys in war. Everyone has to sacrifice something (or
someone) for the greater good. And as Maya said, none of us is
innocent. This show has already proven that to be true time and time again, and there's just something so universal about it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And of course I'm excited that the show will be returning to it science fiction roots next season, as the end of this episode revealed. But with or without the science fiction, The 100 has proven over and over that it is one of the best shows on TV. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I might still post a full fledged blog someday, music video and all, but in the mean time just know that The 100 is an amazing show, and if you aren't watching it, you should be. If you like drama and violence and romance and mystery, you'll like The 100. You might also want to check out the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/The-100-Series/dp/0316234494" target="_blank">books</a> if you haven't. But be warned that there are some major differences between the books and the show.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next season, may we meet again. </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since its start back in 2010, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520211/" target="_blank">The Walking Dead</a> has become a worldwide
sensation. & why not? It has all the terror & gore that comes
with a zombie apocalypse, combined with believable & heart wrenching
acting. My <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/EricJude" target="_blank">husband</a> & I were excited about the show at first, but we
lost interest during the second season, mostly because it started
getting too repetitive - too much walking around & then finding a
safe haven & then having to leave & walk around some more. While
my husband (who is pretty much a real life Daryl Dixon) never regained
interest in the show, I kept coming back to it. Something about it just
kept pulling me back in. Maybe it's all the hype. Maybe I'm
brainwashed. Who knows.<br />
<br />
So after season 2 I started watching the show again, on & off, until "Bethyl" began to emerge from the ashes of armageddon. Then I was
hooked. There had been other relationships on the show, but I was never
really invested in any of them. This was something different. Daryl Dixon (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005342/?ref_=tt_cl_t4" target="_blank">Norman Reedus</a>) was
this hardened, stubborn, closed off warrior type, & Beth Greene (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2782162/?ref_=tt_cl_t7" target="_blank">Emily Kinney</a>) was
the group's little glimmer of hope - sweet, kind, physically weak but
inwardly strong. These 2 characters were polar opposites of each other,
but it worked because each possessed qualities that the other needed. He
made her want to be strong, & she made him want to "Be Good" (See
what I did there? If not, you will) ;)<br />
<br />
In the episode "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3259044/" target="_blank">Still</a>" these dynamics were really fleshed out. The
entire episode was devoted to these 2 characters exclusively, as they
hid out in a little house alone together (besides a couple zombies, of
course). This was the first episode that focused entirely on just one
of the show's many story lines, & for us "Bethyl Shippers" it was a
dream come true. No they didn't sleep together or even kiss, but they
grew close in other ways. <u>Better</u> ways. Ways that transcended romance
& cut straight to the soul. It is this episode that makes up about
95% of my video, & it turns out that the day I finished the video
was also the one year anniversary of that episode airing. I had no idea, so
while I had been unsure of whether to post the blog & video (mostly due to the fear of teasing from my husband), I
took this cool little synchronicity as a sign & decided to go
through with it.<br />
<br />
I wanted to use actual footage in the video, but we live out in the sticks (pretty
much one step up from the characters in the show), so I had to make due with
pictures I found online. I used the song "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVudemQmgYM" target="_blank">Be Good</a>" by Emily Kinney (who
played Beth on the show) because the lyrics are so perfect for it. I
almost feel like the song was written about the aforementioned episode.
Not sure if that's true or not, but either way, I tried lining as many
pictures up with the corresponding words as possible. I know fans of the show will notice
the synchronicities, even if I'm not the first to point them out - I
have no idea if I'm the first or not. Sticks, remember? ;)<br />
<br />
I added some clips of Emily/Beth singing on the show (including, of
course, a clip of her singing "Be Good" in the "Still" episode), & I
also added some strings in the background & some clips from "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmSbXsFE3l8" target="_blank">Cups</a>"
by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0447695/" target="_blank">Anna Kendrick</a> - That song nearly mimics Beth's words to Daryl in the
aforementioned episode, & it's also in the same key, so I just had
to stick it in there.<br />
<br />
(Spoilers Ahead)<br />
<br />
Those words "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone" couldn't ring more true
now, both for Daryl & for the fans. In her final season, Beth was
starting to become my favorite character. She was finally starting to
break out of that "weak little girl" mold & starting to become a
real badass. I soon found myself more excited about seeing her character
progression & evolution into a warrior than about her reuniting
with Daryl & the others. But for seemingly no reason at all (except
maybe shock value) they killed her off. It made no sense. It's not just
that it was sad, but in all honesty, it was just bad writing.<br />
<br />
As a writer myself, I recognize an amazing story waiting to be told.
Beth was a story. A GOOD story. She was in the middle of an inward &
outward transformation that we never got to see fully realized. &
I'm not the only one feeling this way. Fellow writers included,
thousands took to social media with hashtags like
#BethGreeneDeservedBetter. Because she did. & so did we. I
originally planned to make my tribute much more dark & depressing
& more about her death (& to an entirely different song
too), but then I decided that "Still" is how I want to remember them. So
I went for a slightly more uplifting & peaceful video. But that
doesn't mean it doesn't still hurt. Because it does.<br />
<br />
I know I'm a little late with my tribute, as most fans made theirs
within a week after the heartbreaking episode, but I think this
television tragedy affected me far too much. It took the entire time
between seasons just to come to terms with the fact that this awful
thing had happened for no logical reason. At this point I had pretty
much decided to stop watching the show, but I told myself I'd at least
wait to see the characters grieve before I completely stopped watching.
The show returned with yet another heartbreaking episode, involving a
death that again made absolutely no sense whatsoever, but I stuck it out
until finally the grieving episode came. I've wandered back into
apocalypse land since then, but as more of a curious spectator than a
fan. I'm sorry but I can't be a fan of a show that makes not one but 2
stupid decisions back to back. Guess my husband was right. Why, oh why
didn't I listen to my real life Daryl Dixon? Lesson learned ;)<br />

BUT, if I had listened to him, I never would have made this video.
Although I cried like a baby more than a few times, I actually enjoyed
making this video & tinkering with the music. It's short &
simple, but I hope you guys will like it. Let me know what you think,
& if you made it this far, thanks for reading!<br />

<u><b><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">Kylie: Your book "<a href="http://www.zrsouthcombe.com/wsamo/" target="_blank">What Stars Are Made Of</a>" (which
looks amazing) proves</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">that a picture really IS worth 1,000 words. No words

a story using only</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">illustrations, & what gave you this brilliant
idea?</span></b></u></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">Zenobia: I'd liked the idea of a wordless book since I “read”
Shaun Tan's </span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Arrival_%28graphic_novel%29" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">The Arrival</span></a><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> so I guess the idea came from
there. At that point in time, </span><a href="http://www.zrsouthcombe.com/thecaretaker/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">The Caretaker of Imagination</span></a><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> was with my illustrator and its final beta readers
and I needed a project to sink my teeth into.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">Part of it was down to a stubborn
streak, too - my writerly confidence could do with a boost and I really
wanted to have something published by the end of the year.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">In terms of telling the story,
I did have to change the illustrations around a few times (I checked
with some teacher-friends to see if the narrative was clear) and I added
an extra couple in. I storyboarded the whole thing first and tried to
use images and symbols that were simple and universal.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<br />

<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<u><b><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">K: For me, music is an essential
part of writing & illustrating. Do</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">you use music to get the creative
juices flowing? & if so, what bands</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">or songs tend to be your go-to

<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">Z: Yes, definitely! I noticed while
drafting that I tend to listen to nineties music. Don't ask me why!
Disney music does it for me while I'm brainstorming, and Robert Mile's
track </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxjOH8ykvh4" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">Children</span></a><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> gets me focused no matter what.
I swear it's magic. My all time favourites are the Beatles though (talk
about creativity and imagination) and at the moment I'm going through
a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Simon" target="_blank">Paul Simon</a> phase.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">

:)</span></b></u></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 18pt; margin-right: 18pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">Z: Ha! I don't have a secret - sorry!
I do have a few strategies though, and it's probably easier to list
them:</span></div>
<ul style="list-style: disc;">
<li style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">People! I find that surrounding myself with other
creatives - people who get excited about the same things that I do -
keep my energy up so I don't burnout before the end of a project.</span></li>
<li style="line-height: 13pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">Accountability - social media and blogging is great
for this. If I'm sharing progress on a project, people become involved
in the project as well, so if you don't pull through then you're letting
them down as well.</span></li>
<li style="line-height: 13pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">I do have a yearly planner. I've actually just changed
my schedule a bit, but it means I'm not trying to keep timelines in
my head.</span></li>
<li style="line-height: 13pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">I also have a daily planner, where I write my to-do
lists. I usually cross off 50-75% of the tasks, and the rest carry over
to the next day.</span></li>
<li style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">…but I give myself days off as well. Every now
and again I'll scratch a page out and that's my 'day off'. I usually
end up doing some sort of work, but it's whatever I feel like doing
at the time - not what I think I </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">should</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> be doing.</span></li>
<li style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">In terms of daily routine, I'm
trying to build a morning walk in first, then I do my day-job prep work
for up to an hour, and I'm left with four hours of writing work. I don't
break </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">this </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">down further - it just depends
on what project I'm working on at the time.</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<br />
<br />
<u><b><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">K: Most writers tend to worship coffee as the bringer

<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">Z: Aw</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;"> no fair, I have to choose </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">ONE</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">? I'm going to </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">be a rebel</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;"> and choose two - one is Twining's </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">New Zealand Earl Grey</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> which uses mandarin instead of bergamot, and
has a very subtle sweetness. The other is chai masala (literally 'spiced
tea') which I make with Irish Breakfast or Assam tea and add black pepper,
star anise, cloves, cinnamon and honey… yum!</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<b><u><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">K: I love chai too! Good stuff :) Speaking of favorites, out

can you share it with us? Pretty please?</span></u></b></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">Z: What's up with the hard questions,
Kylie!? My favourite is actually one I ended up throwing away! It was
an antique-style map, and was a project I did during the school holidays
when I was a teacher. The reason I loved it is that it got me back into
painting after a LONG hiatus, and the reason I threw it away is the
same - it became a big reminder of a person that I didn't want to become
again.</span><br />

<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<i><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">Z: Yes, thousands of words in fact!
It's definitely more commercial, as it sits in the MG Fantasy &
Adventure genre well, whereas </span><a href="http://www.zrsouthcombe.com/wsamo/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">What Stars Are Made Of</span></a><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> sits outside of customary genres. Having said
that, </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">The Caretaker</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> is still a bit 'offbeat' - I
mean, it's a kid's story with a grown-up protagonist, and it's got a
cake-loving pirate. Not your stock standard fantasy.</span></i></div>
<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<i><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">There is similarity in the themes

that is within all of us, and in </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">many</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> ways that is what the protagonist's
journey is about in </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt;">The Caretaker of Imagination</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> as well.</span></i></div>

<u><br /></u></div>

<u><b><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">K: I know you have another project

<div style="line-height: 14pt; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;">Z: Well, there are two more (stand
alone) books the </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">The Caretaker</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> series, which will hopefully
be released in July & October this year. The second book, </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic;">Lucy's Story: The End of the World</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal;"> is in its 4</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: smaller; font-style: normal; vertical-align: super;">th</span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; vertical-align: baseline;"> round of revisions,
and currently with my illustrator, <a href="http://www.zrsouthcombe.com/tag/jane-thorne/" target="_blank">Jane Thorne</a>. The third book is being
drafted as we speak!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; vertical-align: baseline;">There's
also another project that I'm working as an illustrator on, and I haven't
said a lot about this one yet. I do drawing sessions with my friend
Anne, and she's an amazing story teller. My illustrator is working on
a kid's book that she wrote years ago and we're going to publish that
this year, and she has a wordless book (yay!) project for me to illustrate.
It's called </span><span style="font-family: 'Georgia','Arial'; font-size: 10pt; font-style: italic; vertical-align: baseline;">Animal

<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1617661/" target="_blank">Jupiter Ascending</a> was one of those movies I did my chair dance for when I
saw the very first trailer in theaters, and unlike with most movies, I also
squealed like a little girl just about every time the previews came on
TV. I don't think I had ever been so excited for a movie until this
one. I know, I'm a giant dork. But if you're a regular that's probably
why you're reading this review in the first place. :p If you're not a
regular, fear not. This will be more than just fangirling. <br />
<br />
Knowing how much I wanted to see this movie in theaters, my wonderful
<a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2014/06/author-interview-eric-jude.html" target="_blank">husband</a> gave me $20 for my birthday back in December, assuring me that
we would be seeing it. I grew more & more excited as the time to see
it grew near, & finally, on Valentines Day weekend, we went to see
it. I thought I might die of a heart attack resulting from the epic-ness
of the movie, but I tried to stay calm, & here I am, alive. LOL,
obviously we loved it, but of course as others have said, it's not the
best movie ever made. But although the plot is slightly lacking, the
visual experience totally makes up for it. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0905152/?ref_=tt_ov_dr" target="_blank">Andy</a> & <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0905154/?ref_=tt_ov_dr" target="_blank">Lana</a> Wachowski have wowed us before with brilliant films like <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_6" target="_blank">V For Vendetta</a> & <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1371111/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_3" target="_blank">Cloud Atlas</a>, & of course the epic &
mind-bending <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_%28franchise%29" target="_blank">Matrix</a> films. While I loved those films & their
intensity, I also loved Jupiter Ascending, but in a different way.<br />
<br />
So many people are bashing this movie, saying it's not good because it's
not as intense & brilliant as the Wachowskis other films. But
Jupiter Ascending is much more of a "blockbuster movie" & I believe
it's geared more toward the younger generation, so if you look at the film
like that, without expecting it to get too deep & without comparing
it to other films, it IS a good movie.<br />
<br />
The best thing about Jupiter Ascending is by far the visual effects. I
was completely mesmerized for about 90% of the film. I'm not
exaggerating when I say it's probably THE most beautiful film I have
ever seen. The elaborate worlds & costumes are only part of it.
Usually fight scenes tend to bore me after a minute or two, but with
this movie I was so enthralled by the artistry of each laser & angle
& explosion that most fight scenes sped by, leaving me breathless
in awe.<br />
<br />
Of course, there were some downsides of the film, & one of those
downsides was that some of those fight scenes, while gorgeous, could have been cut to make room for more back-story. Sure, there was enough back-story to get a glimpse of what was going on, but it just sort of
felt like an info-dump every time that back-story was mentioned. This
could have been remedied with a couple flashbacks (which they obviously
had the means of doing, since the film was by no means lacking in the
visual department). Another downside was the repetition of certain
elements, such as Jupiter falling from a building & Caine showing up
out of nowhere just in time to catch her before she hit the ground. Once
was cool, but after three times, it felt a little bit unbelievable. I
mean come on, nobody's THAT perfect.<br />
<br />
Obviously I'm not a fan of <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1475594/?ref_=tt_cl_t2" target="_blank">Channing Tatum</a>, but while his character was
hard to believe at times, & could have also used some more in depth back-story, Tatum actually did a good job in this film. & I have to
agree with my mother in law, who said that the wolf look did him some
good. & some of the ladies will probably enjoy the fact that he
spends half the movie without a shirt. But the main thing is that while I
was worried Tatum would ruin the film for me, & although I
personally would have cast someone else to play his role, he still
carried it well, capturing the tortured & heroic wolf-splice almost
perfectly.<br />
<br />
Of course, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005109/?ref_=tt_cl_t1" target="_blank">Mila Kunis</a> was the star of the show. I knew I would love
her as Jupiter, because she's great in everything I've seen her in
(still waiting for a "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1037705/" target="_blank">Book of Eli</a>" sequel with her character in the
lead, BTW). She did a great job at encompassing the versatility &
diversity required of her by the role, morphing from a helpless &
tired modern woman to a strong willed & powerful force to be
reckoned with. I don't know if they are planning a sequel or not, but I
hope they are because I would love to see where her character goes later
(not to mention some more of those glorious special effects).<br />
<br />
The rest of the cast also did an amazing job, & you really got the
feeling that <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1519666/?ref_=tt_cl_t4" target="_blank">Eddie Redmayne</a> & his "partners in crime" had lived
thousands of years, through make-up but also through their facial
expressions & voices & stance. Again, I would have liked to see some more back-story on these characters, as well as some more about the splices, but I honestly can't think of one bad
performance in the cast.<br />
<br />
While the plot left me wanting more (especially back-story), & a few
scenes were a little predictable, this film is a must-see in theaters,
for the visual experience alone. So I hope you see it in theaters while
you can, & I hope you're holding your breath & gripping the arm
of your chair in awe, like I was. Bottom line, don't expect to be wowed
by the plot or a glorious twist ending, but do expect to be wowed by the
visual aspects of this movie. In fact, brace for it. ;)</div>

There you have it! I know this is a bit different from what I normally post here, but we needed a place to direct customers to, so I donated my blog for the task. I hope you'll check out my husband's beautiful photography <a href="http://frozencreekstudios.deviantart.com/gallery/" target="_blank">HERE</a> and follow FCS on <a href="http://facebook.com/frozencreekstudios" target="_blank">Facebook</a> and <a href="http://twitter.com/frozencreekart" target="_blank">Twitter</a>.<br />
<br />
By the way, the book trailers are a fairly new development. Of course I've made trailers for my own books and my <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/byseries/14491" target="_blank">husband's books</a> (I will let you know when they're up), but it never dawned on me that I could be offering my services to other authors too, until our good friend <a href="http://stephenzimmer.com/" target="_blank">Stephen Zimmer</a> asked me to make one for his newest book, <a href="http://www.seventhstarpress.com/category/stephen-zimmer/" target="_blank">Heart of a Lion</a>. I had lots of fun putting the trailer together and hope to make more for other authors in the future. Below is the trailer as an example. Enjoy, and feel free to check out the book too!<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>The penny whistle is a traditional Celtic flute (also referred to as a tin whistle) and is not to be confused with a recorder. </b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>I started playing the penny whistle when I was 16 (around 13 years ago) after being inspired by Celtic music such as the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Titanic-Original-Picture-Soundtrack-Anniversary/dp/B007IJFLG4" target="_blank">Titanic soundtrack</a> and a band called <a href="http://www.thecorrswebsite.com/" target="_blank">The Corrs</a>. </b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>I have taken lots of breaks from the penny whistle, as other forms of music as well as writing and editing have stolen a lot of my attention, but I always seem to come back to this instrument. I guess I just love the history and culture associated with it. </b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>While I have written a few original songs on the penny whistle, most of the time I am learning other people's songs on it. Soon after I heard the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRUBe2RTq74" target="_blank">Misty Mountains </a>song in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hobbit_%28film_series%29" target="_blank">The Hobbit</a> films, I decided to try learning it on the penny whistle. And by the time the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2310332/" target="_blank">final Hobbit movie</a> came out, an idea was brewing in my mind. An idea to start making cover videos and posting them online. Now I know this is something lots of people do, but hopefully the addition of the penny whistle will spice it up a bit. I do plan to do more covers in the future, so keep an eye out for those, and if you fancy yourself a singer or musician and want to collaborate in the future, please let me know! (I also mixed the audio and love mixing music whether I am in it or not, so I'm open to all kinds of collaborations) - oh and the song at the beginning and end is "The Edge Of Night" (also in the films) so I guess it's not just a cover but a bit of a mash-up too. ;) </b></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>When my talented husband <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/byseries/14491" target="_blank">D. R. Acula </a>wrote his <a href="https://www.tentsquare.com/contests/holiday-journal-entry/monologue-submissions-1/media/dear-santa-by-d-r-acula" target="_blank">monologue </a>entry for the new <a href="http://tentsquare.com/" target="_blank">Tentsquare </a>contest <a href="https://www.tentsquare.com/challenges/holiday-journal-entry" target="_blank">#HolidayJournalEntry</a>, I loved the cool and hilarious twist he put on it, but we weren't quite sure how actors would portray it or if they would get the message we were trying to convey with it. But then, a light broke through the clouds of uncertainty. That light's name is <a href="http://www.adrajanean.com/" target="_blank">Adra Janean</a>.</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Adra is an actress with some work already under her belt, which you can find on her <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6657154/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1" target="_blank">IMDB</a>. We were pleasantly surprised to see that she not only read the monologue, but understood completely the message in it, conveying it perfectly and hilariously on film, with some great editing to top it off and make it even more entertaining. And she did it all in one hour! As a dabbling <a href="http://youtube.com/kyliekerosene" target="_blank">video editor </a>myself, I know how hard it is to complete a project like this in just one hour, but she did it. So that earns even more kudos from me! </b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>At first Adra was worried if a female Santa could work for the challenge, but her take on it as Mrs. Claus was absolutely brilliant, and she even threw in some improv that made the whole thing better. With this video, Adra completely surpassed our expectations, and made a little masterpiece in the process. Watch the magic <a href="https://www.tentsquare.com/videos/dear-santa-by-d-r-acula-by-d-r-acula-2" target="_blank">HERE</a>. You won't regret it. ;) </b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>If you like the video, you can vote for it once a day, beginning December 13th. If she wins, she'll score some cash and a meeting with casting director <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0003915/" target="_blank">Lindsay Chag</a>. So help us show our appreciation for this wonderful performance by voting when the time comes. She so deserves to win. :) </b></span></div>

<u><b><br /></b></u>
(Warning: Mild Spoilers)<u><b> </b></u><br />
<u><b><br /></b></u>
<u><b><br /></b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>A Slow Start:</b></u><b> </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love historical stuff, but honestly I wasn't that impressed with <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0979432/" target="_blank">Boardwalk Empire</a> at first. I guess I felt like it moved too slowly and had too many story lines for me to keep up with. But my <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/EricJude" target="_blank">husband</a> loved it, so I watched it with him, and soon I started getting into it. When the mask-wearing, gun-toting Richard Harrow was introduced, I started getting even more into it, because I loved the contrast of badass and softie portrayed in his character, and felt that he brought a sort of uniqueness to the show. When (spoiler) they killed him off in season four, I was pissed, and swore I would hate the show from then on, but I was pleasantly surprised when season five (the show's final season) began with beautiful and intricate flashbacks of Nucky's young life, giving us a glimpse into both his past and his mind, making me love the show even more. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>A Shocking Anti-Hero:</b></u> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Due to the flashbacks mentioned above, Nucky soon became my new favorite character. So, needless to say, the ending floored me. The writers spent all this time showing Nucky's soft side and having him help people, almost to the point of heroism, only to hit us with a huge change of character in the end, which should have made us hate him, but at least for me, it was still hard not to like him. This was kind of clever on the part of the writers, turning the final episode into a sort of psychological roller coaster ride, but it felt a bit rushed, and in a way almost like a betrayal. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>A Quick Death:</b></u> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As many have said, the final season of Boardwalk Empire felt rushed, and probably needed more than eight episodes to fully wrap up the intricate and flashback-filled story line, and that theory was solidified with the final episode, as (spoiler) Nucky's greatest sin was suddenly revealed, and he was shot, leading many to believe that he died. Of course, those of us that know the real Nucky's history know that he wouldn't have died then, because in real life he was arrested and later died of natural causes. So I thought it was cool that the man leaned over him and mouthed "We're going to get you to a hospital" which let us believe that maybe the character of Nucky didn't die, but was patched up and then arrested. But even with the open ending, it felt too sudden. This moment, as he teetered on the edge of life and death, would have been the perfect moment to utilize all those flashbacks from the season and have his life flash before his eyes, giving the viewers a little more closure and maybe even a tear or two. I just felt like it ended too abruptly for a series finale, but it was a cool twist nonetheless, as most of us didn't see it coming. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>An Alternate ending:</b></u> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I personally think it might have been better to end the show with Darmody pulling the gun out to shoot Nucky, but getting thwarted by the police just before shooting. The police would then arrest Nucky, as they did in real life, but the fact that his arrest stopped him from being shot would have made it sort of bitter sweet. His life could have still flashed before his eyes as he sat in his cell, maybe even coupled with shots of his love interest Margaret and his brother Eli as they heard the news of his arrest. If you have another alternate ending idea, I'd love to hear it in the comments! That's just one of many directions it could have gone. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b><br /></b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>A Final Farewell:</b></u> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Despite some of the show's unlikeable characters and that shocking twist ending, I decided early into the final season that I wanted to commemorate and immortalize the show and its characters with a music video. This was due in part to my husband loving the show so much - I wanted to give him a little something extra to enjoy after the series was gone - but it was also for myself and for the millions of other Boardwalk Empire fans out there that are undoubtedly itching for a little something extra, especially after that abrupt finale. Even if the real Nucky was as flawed as the show made him out to be in the end, I still wanted to give him and the other characters (and the actors that played them) a final farewell. When I heard the song "Gold" by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Sly" target="_blank">Sir Sly</a>, I knew right away that it was the perfect song for Boardwalk Empire. The lyrics, the sound, and even the singer's voice were all so perfect for it. So I got to work, and immediately I started noticing that no matter what I did, no matter how much I cut and chopped and rearranged the footage, it always went perfectly to the music. I probably have ten different versions of the video that I kept just because of this creepy fact, but I eventually pushed through the intimidation of its supernatural essence and made a final version. The final version still has some of that creepiness to it though - the opening, the explosion, the gun shots, the actors mouthing the lyrics of the song, and more - none of that was me. I've had videos fall into place before, but never like this. It may sound crazy, but it almost feels like the spirits of Nucky and the rest wanted this video made. I just hope that with this final farewell, I have done them and this beautiful show some justice. I hope you like it!</div>

There it is! Please let me know what you think and please subscribe if you like it. Thank you to the amazing cast and crew (credited in the video) and to the mysterious force behind this video. I had a blast making it, and I hope it brings the fans a beautiful ending to a beautiful series. <3<br />

P.S. Yes that's me humming at the very end. I wanted to use "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7j8wa9sWOE" target="_blank">Dream A Little Dream Of Me</a>" which had been featured in the show a couple times, but I didn't have it, so I just hummed it from memory. I hadn't heard it in a while, so the tune might not be entirely the same, but my husband said it was haunting, so I used it. Because if this experience has been one thing, I think haunting is the word for it. ;)<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
The first annual <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/" target="_blank">Imaginarium Convention</a> is over, and we are both exhausted and exhilarated. It was my first convention, so I don't have much to compare it to, but my gut tells me it went extremely well for a first year convention. Word of mouth seems to state the same, so that's quite exciting. We've also heard ravings about how well the convention area was laid out, with most of the panels and events being centered in the same hallway, making it easy to find the room you're looking for. It's so great to hear that so many people enjoyed Imaginarium, and it definitely makes us excited for the coming years.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When we volunteered to help our friend <a href="http://www.stephenzimmer.com/" target="_blank">Stephen Zimmer</a> with this event, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We ended up being deemed "King and Queen" of the <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/film-festival/" target="_blank">Film Festival</a>, a title we will gladly be reprising next year and hopefully for many years to come. Working the Film Festival requires late hours as some of the films run until 1 or 2 A.M. but we don't mind at all because it's so great to be able to sit in on some of the films being shown, and to appreciate people's work with them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In addition to the wonderful authors we met at Imaginarium, we also met some great filmmakers. And there were plenty of awards given out for the Film Festival during the banquet on the final day of the convention (see the winners <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/2014/09/23/imaginarium-2014-film-festival-award-winners/" target="_blank">HERE</a>). But for us, the winner of most memorable moment from the Film Festival definitely goes to our friend and fellow Eastern Kentucky native, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0714695/" target="_blank">Jeffrey Reddick</a> (creator of <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0195714/?ref_=nm_knf_i1" target="_blank">Final Destination</a> and much more), who sat in on a short film he wrote called "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AK8Cogy6Sg" target="_blank">Paralyzed</a>" (Directed by <a href="http://www.aaron-sims.com/" target="_blank">Aaron Sims</a>) and when we experienced some technical difficulties with the film, Jeffrey handled it like a pro, rolling up his sleeves and joining <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/byseries/14491" target="_blank">Eric </a>on the floor to help fix the problem. So major kudos to him and his team for that :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0lVMvT0avBJloT1tO8SI2YgmZMdehq6yggIvyUVsZDrQVsmWgdsoIZLm-7Q1lWI-Oltn3MT4XexV65IPcggS63Lo9XdO48ZpmHzslMKnbDfjpP_Ua5SJ6UVx30sH8nTEmW2WGw9gflXE/s1600/paralyzed.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0lVMvT0avBJloT1tO8SI2YgmZMdehq6yggIvyUVsZDrQVsmWgdsoIZLm-7Q1lWI-Oltn3MT4XexV65IPcggS63Lo9XdO48ZpmHzslMKnbDfjpP_Ua5SJ6UVx30sH8nTEmW2WGw9gflXE/s1600/paralyzed.png" height="225" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I also have to mention <a href="http://amylmccorklekentuckyauthor.webs.com/" target="_blank">Amy McCorkle</a>'s film "<a href="http://letters-todaniel.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Letters To Daniel</a>" which, in addition to its announced award, also had the best turn-out of the whole weekend. Also, "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2011223/" target="_blank">Scenes From A Gay Marriage</a>" (Written and Directed by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1979801/?ref_=tt_ov_dr" target="_blank">Matt Riddlehoover</a>) which won the most awards, and deservedly so. Its characters were so well written and so well portrayed that you could have sworn they were real. And of course <a href="http://www.jackiegamber.com/" target="_blank">Jackie Gamber</a>'s short film "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2297982/" target="_blank">America's Got Superpowers</a>" which was an awesome take on the popular reality competition show "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America%27s_Got_Talent" target="_blank">America's Got Talent</a>" and had a surprisingly touching theme.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To those filmmakers who we weren't able to sit with for their films, it wasn't because we didn't want to, but we just had so much to do during those times. In addition to running the Film Festival, we also ran errands for Stephen and his crew, opened doors for people with heavy loads, and other various odds and ends like making and holding up banners.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
No matter what we were doing, we had a blast, because not only were we honored to be part of the beginning of something as epic as Imaginarium, but just being around so many like-minded and artistic people made everything awesome. You could literally feel the positive vibes in the air, and I think everyone there got the sense of belonging, which is a rare thing to be felt all around. Kudos to Stephen and the rest of the team for making us feel so at home, and for putting this amazing convention together. We really are excited for what's to come and can't wait to see Imaginarium grow even more epic with each coming year. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Speaking of coming years, don't forget to join us for Imaginarium 2015! It's gonna be awesome. I'll add the exact dates when they're revealed. Keep an eye out. ;) </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>You might be wondering...</b></div>
<b><span style="background-color: red;"><br /></span>
</b><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><b><u>What is Imaginarium?</u></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b>
<b>The Imaginarium is a convention that will be taking place September 19th through 21st, in Louisville, KY. This is the first year so you may not have heard of it, but if not you will! So I suggest you get in on its awesomeness before it's too late ;)</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><b><u>Who is the Imaginarium for?</u></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b>
<b>This convention is pretty widespread, including great stuff for writers, readers, editors, filmmakers, gamers, publishers, cosplayers... That's right, pretty much everyone. It's like all your favorite conventions wrapped up into one, and centered around all things creative writing.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><b><u>What is there to do at Imaginarium?</u></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b>
<b>In addition to the great <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/schedule-of-events-programming/" target="_blank">writing </a><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" target="_blank">panels</a> and <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/guests/" target="_blank">guest appearances</a>, the Imaginarium will include a <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/film-festival/" target="_blank">film festival</a>, a <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/gaming-room/" target="_blank">gaming room</a>, a <a href="http://www.entertheimaginarium.com/costume-contest/" target="_blank">masquerade ball</a>, and much more!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><b><u>How much does it cost?</u></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b>
<b>You can enjoy the entire weekend for $55, or $25 if you just want to come for a day. And if you happen to have a group of 8 or more, the entire weekend is only $35 per person! AND if you have kids ages 12 or under, they get in for FREE! So, convention-wise, it's a pretty good deal. ;)</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><b><u>What am I getting out of it?</u></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b>
<b>If you're a writer, you'll get tons of helpful advice from seasoned authors, and a chance to network with readers and publishers. If you're a reader, you'll get some face-time with some of the coolest authors out there, and the option to pick up some signed books. If you specialize in another field, you'll get to meet new people and have an awesome weekend. And Awesome weekends tend to include unexpected surprises ;)</b></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2699128/" target="_blank">The Leftovers</a> might be the weirdest, grittiest, most beautiful TV show I've ever seen. Each episode is like its own mini-movie, and I think each episode of the first season has left me feeling the same way - drained, intrigued, and satisfied. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>This show has some of the most gorgeous cinematography I've ever seen, and the entire cast delivers breathtaking performances - from <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000239/?ref_=tt_cl_t4" target="_blank">Liv Tyler</a>'s astounding tree chopping scene in one of the first episodes, to <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0235652/?ref_=tt_cl_t8" target="_blank">Ann Dowd</a>'s surprisingly passionate first speaking part at the restaurant on their day off, to <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4689420/?ref_=tt_cl_t6" target="_blank">Carrie Coon</a>'s heartbreaking sobs in the final episode of the season, and many more. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Every character is so believable, and in a way, this sort of dystopian world they inhabit is almost believable too. This might be in part because no one knows what happened yet. We know people disappeared into thin air, we know it wasn't the rapture because not all of the departed were good people, and we suspect some kind of supernatural force but we're not quite sure what that force is.</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>This mystery is one of the intriguing aspects of the show - I think a lot of people stick with it because above all they just want to find out what happened on that fateful day when they went away. But about half way through season one, you begin to realize that it doesn't really matter what happened, or how it happened, it only matters that it happened. And now the remaining characters are left with so much intensity and confusion and inner turmoil, and I think that more than anything this show is about struggle. It's a look at how different people handle things, and at human nature at its worst, when it's put to the test. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Now, suddenly, we're no longer sticking around to find out what happened (I have a feeling we may never find out anyway), but now we're sticking around for the experience. It's not about the destination anymore, but the ride. A beautiful, crazy, heartbreaking & mind bending ride that I hope will never end. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>The last episode of the first season definitely had a "this is it" feeling, and I suspect they wrote that episode with the possibility in mind that it might not get a second season, but I've heard that it's already been renewed. I could be wrong, but that is what I've heard. I hope I'm right, because there is so much more to the stories being told on The Leftovers, and so much more to be learned through the struggles of the characters, the brilliant writing, and the experience of not really caring about the destination, but the ride. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Because in the end, </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>isn't that all that matters? </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>That we're still here. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>And though the ride is bumpy at times,</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>the view is still so beautiful.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent"> As most of you have probably heard by now, my husband <a href="http://twitter.com/writerdracula" target="_blank">D. R. Acula</a> and I have been participating in a contest on a collaborative website called <a href="https://www.tentsquare.com/projects/short-film" target="_blank">TentSquare</a>, and for about a month now it's pretty much all we've been doing. We've now made it all the way to the final round, and for this round contestants were asked to write an original song, using elements of <a class="_58cn" data-ft="{"tn":"*N","type":104}" href="https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/tentsquare">TentSquare</a>'s coming film "<a href="https://www.tentsquare.com/projects/short-film" target="_blank">While You Were In A Coma</a>" in which a man wakes up from a coma to find that aliens have invaded. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent">We were told to incorporate a gas mask (which<span class="text_exposed_show"> we happened to have anyway), a city (which we did NOT have), and the fact that the main character 'doesn't get the girl' in the end. So we built this whole apocalyptic
world based on that little bit of information, in which our characters are in the
midst of this war with the alien invaders, and we have run out of bullets so we have to use swords and hammers and such to fight them, and our characters are basically singing to the guy in the coma, waiting for him to wake up and 'help us save the world' as the song states. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Photo by Kylie Jude</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show">We only had about 10 days to compose the music, write the lyrics, film the video, edit the video, and get it uploaded (which for us is an entire day's work anyway). We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary during the 10 days, and we had to take a few breaks for yard work, road work, house work, and even tearing apart and rebuilding our porch steps. So in reality it probably only took us 6 or7 days to do all of this work. And trust me, it was a LOT of work. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show">First he composed the music, which featured elements of the <a href="https://www.tentsquare.com/contests/song-competition/submissions/d-r-acula-round-2-interview-song-submission" target="_blank">video interview</a> we submitted in the 2nd round, so it wasn't too hard to build on that and make it into a full length song. Then I wrote the lyrics, which I'll paste below in case you can't understand them in the song. Then we recorded vocals and I mixed them into the song, which took longer than it probably should have. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show">Then we filmed the video, which took about 3 days, and was a combination of us, some close-up shots of the machines that conveniently decided to work on our road during that time (which never happens here so it was good timing - we figured they could pass for aliens), and footage that people sent us of cities including New York, Chicago, and even from Argentina. We don't have a city near where we live, so we were really lucky to get that footage from them. Then our TentSquare shirts arrived in the mail just in time to go back and film some extra shots for the last chorus with us wearing the shirts. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Photo by D. R. Acula</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show">Then came the editing process, which was probably the most tedious and time consuming of all, but I love editing and I had fun doing it. As it started to come together, I literally squealed with excitement a few times. LOL. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show">We both worked harder on this than I think we've ever worked on anything, and it was so much fun to create something like this together. Hopefully we'll be doing more stuff like this in the near future! </span></span></div>

<span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show"><br /></span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Today
I'm doing something a little different, because this guy is an awesome
artist, and I really want to spread the word to anyone reading this. He
pumps out these sketches (yes, SKETCHES) of such intricate and detailed
stuff, and I've never seen anything like it. A while back, he held a
contest on <a href="https://twitter.com/ArtAcolyte" target="_blank">Twitter </a>for
one of his drawings, and to win it you had to guess the number that was
written on the back. I figured I'd give it a shot and guessed the first
number that came to mind, and to my surprise, ended up guessing right! So he sent the
drawing, and I still have it nearby to remind me to always trust my
instincts (something I've struggled with many times in the past). So
it's pretty important to me, and I'm so grateful to own such a gorgeous
piece of art. Here is that drawing:</i></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Anyway,
I wanted to let you get to know the artist a bit, through an
interview. I've interviewed authors before, but this is my first artist
interview, so bear with me. ;) And enjoy! </i></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>1.
I've always been fascinated with how much detail goes into even your
simplest sketches. How DO you do it? And what is your preferred method?</b></span><br />
<br />
<b> The simple answer is that’s just the way my brain is wired. Even when I
set out with the intention to sketch something simple my mind will just
start adding complexity and detail. The creative process for me is
different for every drawing. Sometimes the idea/image pops into my mind
fully formed and then I just have to draw it out. Other times I just
grab a sketchbook & a pen and just let whatever creative idea come
out of my stream of consciousness.</b><br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>2. Who or what are your biggest artistic inspirations? (I'm sensing some <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._R._Giger" target="_blank">Giger </a>influence, but I could be wrong)</b></span><br />
<br />
<b> A lot of people assume Giger is one of my influences and looking at his
work I can understand why that comparison is made. Although I am
flattered by the comparison and think he’s a great artist with a
tremendous body of work, he was not one of my influences. The only time I
remember seeing Giger’s artwork was in a book once at a <a href="http://www.barnesandnoble.com/" target="_blank">Barns & Noble</a> for a few minutes, and seeing the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_%28creature_in_Alien_franchise%29" target="_blank">alien</a> designs from the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078748/" target="_blank">movie</a>.
Most of my influences came from comic books. The first comic book
book artists that began to captivate me were the guys who broke off of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Comics" target="_blank">Marvel </a>and start <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_Comics" target="_blank">Image Comics</a>. Guys like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Silvestri" target="_blank">Marc Silvestri</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Lee" target="_blank">Jim Lee</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_McFarlane" target="_blank">Todd Mcfarlane</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Larsen" target="_blank">Erik Larson</a>. Over the years I’ve come to admire the art
of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kirby" target="_blank">Jack Kirby</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Buscema" target="_blank">John Buscema</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jae_Lee" target="_blank">Jae Lee</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Madureira" target="_blank">Joe Maduereira</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Scott_Campbell" target="_blank">J Scott Campbell</a>,
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humberto_Ramos" target="_blank">Humberto Ramos</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leinil_Francis_Yu" target="_blank">Leinil Yu</a> and so many others. I’ve also been influenced
by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvador_Dal%C3%AD" target="_blank">Salvador Dali</a> and other surrealist artists.</b><br />
<br />
<br />
<b><br /></b>
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>3. Have you had any professional training? Or does it just come naturally?</b></span><br />
<br />
<b> I've not had any formal training. I learned a lot of drawing techniques
through how to books and magazines. There have also been tons of hours
spent every day working on my craft. There’s just no getting around it,
if you want to become great at anything you have to believe you can
achieve it, and then prove it to the universe by investing the time.</b><br />
<br />
<br />
<b><br /></b>
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>4.
Well said! Now I have to ask, Have you ever done commissions? And how
would someone commission you to draw something for them? (Totally
hypothetical question, I swear) ;)</b></span><br />
<br />
<b>I have done commissions before and actually made quite a bit of money
doing so. I stopped taking commissions because I didn’t enjoy it. I felt
that it was killing my creativity. The majority of the time the
customer wants you to draw or paint them, their family or some subject
matter your not interested in. With commission your usually drawing or
painting from a photograph which takes a lot of skill, but allows for
little creative expression. Art for me now is about expressing my
creativity with freedom to go in any direction the universe takes me. I
want to draw worlds and figures from my imagination and not from
photographs. I want to sell art on my own terms and not have my
creativity stifled because I want to make a quick buck. Let me add that I
do think it’s important for new aspiring artists to draw from life and
study the things around them to build a base on which to build a
creative foundation.<br /> </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><br /></b>
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>5. Totally
agreed! Do what makes you happy, not anyone else! And last but not
least, can you tell us more about yourself? Who is the man behind the
art?</b></span><br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>I’m a man who loves God, loves his family and loves life. I wake up
every morning grateful that I get to spend another day in a world filled
with creativity and with people who love me. I’m grateful that I have
the opportunity and freedom to explore my creative ideas. </b><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>And I'm grateful that there are wonderful artists like Miguel in the world, who's work inspires me every day. You can find Miguel on <a href="https://twitter.com/ArtAcolyte" target="_blank">Twitter</a>, <a href="http://instagram.com/artacolyte" target="_blank">Instagram</a>, and his <a href="http://www.artacolyte.com/" target="_blank">website</a>. <b><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="color: #990000;"><i>I'm so excited to bring you a new interview with one of my favorite online acquaintances, fellow writer and alien theorist, <a href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/110829410526507710396/posts" target="_blank">Ray Davis</a>. If you haven't heard of him yet, don't worry, you will. His new novel series <a href="http://anunnakiawakening.wordpress.com/2014/07/21/132/" target="_blank">Anunnaki Awakening</a> is going to be pretty epic. You'll want to check it out, believe me. I'm honored to host him and to have these questions answered so perfectly. Read on and you'll see what I mean: </i></span>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"><br /></span></span></b></div>

<b><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">1. First things first! Can you introduce yourself for those
who may not know you?</span></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">First of all, thank you, Kylie, for the opportunity to
introduce myself to your readers. My name is Ray Davis and I'm a writer. I've
done many things in my life to pay the bills. Writing has been the one constant
from a very early age. </span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">By day, I write sales training for a Fortune 500 company. At
night, I write philosophical and motivational content encouraging people to
take a second look at themselves and their world; on the premise there might be
more there than their conditioning has led them to believe. Most recently, I
have been engaged in writing Book 1 of my speculative fiction novel series -
Anunnaki Awakening.<br />
<br />
My wife, April, and I live in Kansas City area, but our hearts are always in
Hawaii. We travel there each year and our big goal is to live there one
day. We have two grown kids – a son and a daughter. We’ve got a wedding
coming this November and another one likely in the near future. So, we're on
the verge of being full-fledged empty-nesters.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I'm a “what you see
is what you get” person. I love sports, music, and travel, but my life
experiences have demanded that I look out into the cosmos and within to seek
answers to life's big questions. </span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b>
<br />
<b><span style="color: #550055;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b>
<b><br /></b>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">
2. I'm loving the theme of your book, Anunnaki Awakening. I too have</span></span><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"> drawn on these beings (as well as others) for inspiration in future</span></span><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"> novels. Can you tell us more about why you decided to use the Anunnaki</span></span><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"> in your novels, and how that came about?</span></span></b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Thank you. The answer to this question alone might fill a
book. I didn't set out to write <i>this</i> book. In 2007, I started a website
called The Affirmation Spot. Until about eight months ago, most people in
social media knew me for that endeavor. As I was encouraging people to follow
their dreams, I realized I wasn't pursuing mine - to be a published author with
something important to say.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I'm a life-long science fiction fan - especially <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek" target="_blank">Star Trek</a>.
I really enjoyed Gene Roddenberry's positive view of humanity and its future.
I'd seen a string of dystopian science fiction movies - which I enjoy as much
as the next person - but I began to feel as if the genre had gone rather
negative on humanity's prospects. I wanted to write something brighter that
pointed more to our potential than our doom. <br />
<br />
I thought this book was going to be about building an interesting story around
my mission of empowerment with <a href="http://www.theaffirmationspot.com/" target="_blank">The Affirmation Spot</a>. I had already developed my
heroine character - Maria Love - and began writing a book with a tentative
title of The Future Possible.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I was home alone one Saturday in 2009 and turned on a new TV
show I'd heard about. That show was <a href="http://www.history.com/shows/ancient-aliens" target="_blank">Ancient Aliens</a>. They asked, "What if
it were all true?" I immediately followed with, "What if it were
still true?" What if there was a common sense explanation for why humanity
continues to be led against its best interest? What if there was a reason human
beings have this negative default setting and go about their lives ignoring big
questions and accepting our institution's simple answers?<br />
<br />
As I watched, I realized this topic had been sitting in my life's waiting room
for years. I'd always gravitated to shows like <a href="http://www.coasttocoastam.com/" target="_blank">Coast to Coast A.M.</a> I'd read the
works of people like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_von_D%C3%A4niken" target="_blank">Von Daniken</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zecharia_Sitchin" target="_blank">Sitchin</a>. The seed was planted at the age
of six. My father took me to see Von Daniken's <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065702/" target="_blank">Chariots of the Gods</a> in its
original theater run. I was hooked and it all made so much sense to me.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">This topic - with its philosophical, religious, and
scientific overtones - demanded my mind share. Within a few days the Inanna
character showed up. She’s the co-heroine in Anunnaki Awakening. She's the
member of the Anunnaki elite who is rebelling against the age-old control of
humanity by her race.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">The purpose,
storyline, and tone of the book shifted. It still presents a hopeful vision for
humanity and our future, but we have to clean some old wounds first.</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b>
<br />
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b></div>
<b><br /></b>
<b><br /></b>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">
3. Will you be taking the traditional publishing route, or the</span></span><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"> independent route? And which one would you recommend for 'noobs' like</span></span><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"> me?</span></span></b>
</div>
<b><br /></b>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">This is actually my first novel too. I considered many options
and have wavered back and forth on this topic. I see benefits to
self-publishing and today it's a great way to break in, prove your audience,
and get picked up by a major publisher. It's also the best way to maintain
control of your work.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Traditional publishing offers the benefits of a backer that
knows the ropes and can help you promote the work. However, you also lose your
artistic control and there is a lot of subject matter - important subject
matter - medium to larger publishers won't support.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I'm fortunate in that
a friend in Hawaii started a publishing company a couple years ago. He's
publishing both serious authors and those who have a story to tell and want to
publish it. He has a mission to help hundreds of thousands of people tell their
story and earn income from it. His name is <a href="https://twitter.com/larryczerwonka" target="_blank">Larry Czerwonka</a>. He owns the <a href="http://www.thelarryczerwonkacompany.com/" target="_blank">LarryCzerwonka Publishing Company</a> of Hilo, HI. He will be publishing my first book.</span></b></div>
<b><span style="color: #550055;">

<br />
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="color: #550055;"><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">
4. Could have fooled me! Already a pro. :) Changing the subject a bit, you've posted a lot about aliens and
your belief that we aren't alone (with which I agree wholeheartedly). Can you summarize your theories on this topic?</span></span></b></div>
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I don't know if it was Star Trek from the age of three or
something I was just predisposed to know. I've never doubted for a moment that
our universe is bursting with life. To me that's a given. </span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">It's a topic we, as
species, must become more adult about. It’s treated in juvenile ways belying
its critical importance. All of our institutions are so Earth-centric. We may
have discovered the Sun doesn't go around the Earth, but our mindset still is
that everything else does.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;"><br />
I've never understood why religious and scientific people seem so threatened by
this concept. Aliens don't preclude God, but God doesn't preclude aliens
either. Why must it be one or the other? <br />
<br />
As for the scientific point of view, there seems to be this overwhelming
disposition towards denial rather than acceptance on this topic. There’s more
effort at ridicule than research. Large segments of mainstream science simply
will not even follow the scientific method related to evidence on extraterrestrials
and UFOs. I find that puzzling.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I've talked to numerous scientifically minded people online
that LOVE science fiction and thinking about alien life in that context, but
run screaming when you try to have a serious conversation about its reality. I
can only chalk that kind of behavior by intelligent people up to fear and
conditioning. They don't want someone to put the proverbial "tin foil
hat" on their heads. So, the topic goes largely without discussion. <br />
<br />
In Anunnaki Awakening, I play heavily on these themes. One must ask why this is
the conditioning? Why are human beings - inquisitive as we are - not eager and
ready to embrace other life in this universe? When you watch the pattern of
media and other "official" comment on this topic, it's almost
universally ridiculed. People in our culture are very conscious about
being cool. It’s a very powerful societal control mechanism. If it's clearly
delineated as uncool, people stay away.<br />
<br />
I see extraterrestrial life to be a VERY sober and important subject for our
planet and our species. My question is how can civilization that relies on
internal combustion engine definitively conclude interstellar space travel
impossible? They can't, but they are.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Then there's the separate - but possibly related - issue of
UFOs. I've had several sightings in my life that defy explanation. Both the
object's appearance and behavior were extraordinarily bizarre. Two of my
sightings felt very personal and happened within a few weeks of each other in
1991. I've described these in various places online.<br />
<br />
The third happened during a red-eye flight from New York to Chicago in December
2007. While over Lake Michigan, a bright, undefined light rose rapidly from
below right in the middle of commercial flight pattern with at least three
other planes besides ours waiting to land in Chicago. Two objects, easily
identified as fighters, appeared to be in pursuit of the object. The first
object was faster, more maneuverable, and eventually shot straight up leaving
the two fighters in the dust. The big question for me, if this was just some
kind of experimental aircraft, is why the military would be conducting such
maneuvers late at night in the midst of several commercial jets? </span></b></div>
<ul>
<li><b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Do I think we’ve been
visited by extraterrestrial beings? Absolutely. </span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Do I think it's been going on throughout our history? Yes. </span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Do I think all UFOS are aliens? No. I think there’s a mix of causes that may
include life forms that inhabit this planet without our knowledge.</span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Do I think there are
millions of civilizations out in that vast darkness? Yes. Many of them are
probably wondering if they’re all alone too. They’re going about the daily life
of their civilizations thinking they, too, are the center of everything.</span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">Do I think our
governments are aware of this phenomenon? Some governments, I believe, know
more than others. It probably depends on what you mean by "the
government.” I posit some possibilities in the novel. </span></b></li>
</ul>
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b>
<br />
<b><span style="color: #550055;">
</span></b>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I've already begun Book 2 in the Anunnaki Awakening series.
I've set my personal goal to become a full-time author living and working in
Hawaii in the next few years. Book 3 is outlined, but I enjoy letting the story
come to me rather than mapping it all out ahead of time. It will probably
change.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">After this series, I may return to a novel I started in 2004
titled Weather Wars. I stopped writing it when Hurricane Katrina too closely
mirrored an event I'd written just weeks before in that book.</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: 14pt;">I'm hoping Anunnaki
Awakening will catch on with readers. My beta readers are giving me great
feedback about how the story is pulling them in. I'd like to see it become a
hit and be turned into a movie. I figure if vampires and child witches can hit
it big, why not aliens?</span></b></div>

<div class="_53" id="mid.1406430179394:afbea2f1d044bd5f11" style="text-align: center;">
<div class="_3hi clearfix">
<div class="_38 direction_ltr">
<span class="null"><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2872732/" target="_blank">Lucy</a> is one of those movies that I did my excited chair dance for after
seeing the first trailer in theaters. As usual, when I do that, I (and
the people near me) know I will be trying my best to see it in theaters.
When asked to choose just one movie to see between June and December, I
picked Lucy. Then, on opening night, I started seeing a wave of
negative reviews coming in online from some people who had seen it. I
was shocked. And I was almost swayed by their opinions. But then I
remembered that people also gave most of <a href="http://kerosene13.blogspot.com/2013/02/random-review-m-night-shyamalan.html" target="_blank">Shyamalan</a>'s films negative reviews, so I said TO HELL WITH THE PEOPLE, and
the day after it hit theaters, we made the long and stressful trip to
finally see Lucy.<br />
<br />
It surprised me.<br />
In a good way.<br />
<br />
Lucy is a feast for the eyes, ears, AND mind, and
is also an in depth lesson on science, history, and biology. Not to
mention, a lesson on human nature. And the way it cuts back and forth
between time and space, and the way the transitions cut from one thing
to something completely different and yet somehow connected, is genius
on the part of cinematographer <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005636/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr5">Thierry Arbogast</a> as well as <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000108/?ref_=tt_ov_dr" target="_blank">Luc Besson</a> (who happens to be the film's writer, director, AND editor!) <br />
<br />
Reviewers have
said that <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424060/?ref_=tt_cl_t1" target="_blank">Scarlett Johansson</a>'s acting was mediocre in this film, claiming
she doesn't show enough emotion. But I mean, come on. She's playing
someone who begins to essentially lose touch with what it is to be
human, including emotion, so in that case I think she did a great job.
And she shows plenty of emotion in the beginning of the film, before the
drug is implanted, and even a couple times afterwards, as she exhibits
genuine love and sorrow. I admit that even I was worried if she was the
right choice to play Lucy, but After seeing it, I think she was perfect. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000151/?ref_=tt_cl_t2" target="_blank">Morgan Freeman</a> also did a good job as the professor (as expected), and I was pleasantly surprised to see <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0906756/?ref_=tt_cl_t4" target="_blank">Amr Waked</a> in this film, who previously stole the show for me in the movie <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1441952/?ref_=nm_knf_t2" target="_blank">Salmon Fishing In The Yemen</a>. I'm excited that he's getting more work, and hope to see him in more films soon. </span><span class="null"></span><br />
<span class="null"><br />
Reviewers have also said the special effects are bad, and while I
agree that there is a little glitch in visual quality when she reaches
70%, I thought most of the other effects were pretty well done. That or I
was too distracted by how the movie made me FEEL to notice any other
bad special effects. </span><br />
<span class="null"><br />
This movie definitely had a strong impact on
me, and it had me in tears twice. One thing is for certain, Lucy is an important one to see in theaters. If you're anything like me, you
will leave this movie with a better perception of the world around you
and the people inhabiting it, and with a sense of why we're all here.
And if you're lucky, you might even unlock a bit more than 10% of your
brain just by seeing it ;)<br />
<br />
My
husband <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/EricJude" target="_blank">Eric</a> loved the movie too, while his mother, who saw it with us,
didn't like it quite as much as she thought she would. I think this is
because she was wanting and expecting a fun, entertaining movie, and
while it did have some funny moments (I even heard her laughing), I think it
ended up being a bit deeper than she expected. That's just speculation, of
course. And I'm guessing that others who didn't like the movie might
have also been expecting something a bit more light hearted. So if
that's what you want in a movie, then I guess maybe Lucy isn't the movie
for you. But if
you like movies that are beautiful and entertaining while also making you
think, Lucy is for you. Please see it.<br />

<i>You can choose between page 7 or 77. </i></div>

<b><i>"Don't let them take you!" The frazzled woman pleaded as she smacked the bars of her cell with a trembling hand. Something in her bloodshot eyes told Amaya to run. <b><i>"I told you that one belonged in the asylum ward." The sign language using man put his taser back in the pocket of his unzipped coat, which barely fit his chubby body. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There you have it! The longest excerpt I have shared to date. I hope you'll read the whole book when it gets published (hopefully soon).</div>

<br />
<br />
That's right, for this post I'm interviewing my wonderful husband (who also happens to be an author) Eric Jude (also known as D.R. Acula). Eric has been so supportive and helpful over the years, and he is always the first person I run to with my crazy novel ideas, and he always gives me his honest opinion. He is the brain power behind a lot of the technical stuff in my coming Science Fiction novels, and I'm so grateful for his help. But I'll bet most of you didn't know that he is an author himself! He wrote his first Ebook "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Successfully-Cope-Life-Eric-Jude-ebook/dp/B00ADJJEB4/ref=la_B00KKCQT12_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1402936322&sr=1-3" target="_blank">How To Successfully Cope With Life</a>" a couple years back, and has recently started a series of short stories in the Horror genre, called <a href="https://www.smashwords.com/books/byseries/14491" target="_blank">#AlderdiceTales</a> (which I had the pleasure of editing for him). And yes, I do use the hashtag every chance I get. And you should too. ;) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, obviously I know most of these answers, but for the sake of readers who don't, I decided to ask Eric some questions. Enjoy! </div>

Who
better to lead a modern army than George Washington? Right? The thing
is, in this day and age, that would take a bit of resurrecting. And in
this book, that is exactly what happens. And the army is no normal army.
It's an army of zombies. Pretty cool, right? Sure, authors are putting
zombies in everything from "Pride and Prejudice" to "Romeo and Juliet" these
days, but I'm pretty sure no one has tried presidents yet. So that's
pretty unique. </div>
<div style="font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 24px; text-align: center;">

I
haven't had time to finish this book yet, since my own novel has kept
me busier than a bee lately, but I'm about half way through, and it's
pretty good so far. I love how pronounced the characters are. You almost
don't need to know the name of the person speaking, because the
character is identifiable by his/her words and actions alone. This is
especially true in the case of the resurrected characters, Patton
and Washington. They are from different eras, but, through the
events of this book, they are brought into the same era, both way ahead
of their time. Patton is more in-your-face and outgoing, and Washington
is more reserved and refined. This difference is really defined in the
first scene of the two leaders talking together, and again in another
scene where they react very differently to an event. The way both
characters present themselves is how I feel the actual men would have
presented themselves, so it's clear the authors did their research. It's
also clear the authors know a lot about the military, which is sort of
necessary for a book like this. Some of the explanations and terminology
were way over my head, LOL. The action takes a bit to pick up, but once
it does, it's everything a zombie lover could ask for. Plenty of blood
and guts. </div>
<div style="font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 24px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 24px; text-align: center;">
The
only problem I personally had with the book was the fact that in the
midst of a heated fight scene, we are suddenly pulled out of the action
to hear about the color of the walls, or some other lengthy description.
Although, I would have loved more description and explanation on how
these characters got to be where they are, and on how the zombies and
resurrected became the way they are, but maybe I just overlooked
something, or maybe I haven't reached that part yet. But, aside from all
that, it's a great read if you love zombies and history. I can't wait
to find out what happens next.<br />
